Chris Phipps

All about books: Reading, Writing, Editing

Chris Phipps lives in the Sierra Nevada Foothills with her husband, Tom. Her childhood journey took her from a remote New Mexico valley with no indoor plumbing or electricity, to life in a tent while laboring in California’s fields and orchards. She escaped through marriage, and as a young military wife, lived briefly in Massachusetts, Alaska, Georgia, and Florida.

Her work history evolved from field work to clerk-typist, to office-manager, to computer-programmer, to computer trainer, to Compensation Specialist. But through it all, she wanted to write. Short stories at first, while she worked, went to school, and raised six children. Then, after retirement, she completed work on an unusual family saga–her own.

Next came a mystery, Love, Murder, and a Good Bottle of Wine, followed by its sequel, SnowboundSnowbound.

Other works currently in progress are a rewrite of the family saga for publication and a new mystery in the series, as yet unnamed.

She is a member of a small group of local writers who respect and critique each other’s work; an online group, Inked Voices; and Sisters in Crime..

Glaucoma has robbed her of much of her vision, so she is grateful for modern technology, allowing her to enlarge the fonts on her word processor and Kindle, so she can keep writing and reading.
